Dyscalculia Screening

As a Level 7 qualified practitioner in Dyscalculia I am currently able to provide Dyscalculia screening which will indicate if the child is at risk of Dyscalculia. I have a PGCE in Dyscalculia and I am an Accredited Practitioner for Dyscalculia with the British Dyslexia Association.

Initial screening will indicate the likelihood of Dyscalculia and will aid a decision as to whether to pursue a full diagnosis.

Screening will include:

· A Dyscalculia Checklist for the child’s teacher to highlight any specific difficulties in the classroom.

· A Parent / Child questionnaire covering background information and an anxiety checklist.

· An online Dyscalculia Screener to distinguish children who are experiencing low attainment in Maths from those who are potentially experiencing difficulties due to Dyscalculia.

· An informal assessment / observation covering key areas of numeracy to highlight areas of strengths and weakness.

· A standardised assessment of Mathematics attainment using Feifer Assessment of Mathematics Dyscalculia screener.

· A standardised assessment of Literacy to ensure that any weakness in this area is not impacting Maths attainment.

· Cognitive Processing tests including tests of short term/working memory and processing speed.

· A vision screener to check for visual perception difficulties.

A comprehensive report written to SASC standards will be provided which will summarise the findings from the screening and will include recommendations for any specialist teaching that may be required and will indicate if a full diagnosis is necessary.
